We live in an age where every individual has the ability to have a significantly large public life. The word is small; celebrities are no longer untouchables, and nothing is private. However, as public as our lives may be, we have certain control over what our public lives look like, and they do not always match with reality.
Many people portray their lives to be as great as possible. They will purposely shout their successes while neglecting any reality of failure, hurt, or strife. Just because we are able to edit it out of our public lives, doesn’t eliminate suffering’s existence. As great as my life may seem online…

Ever since I was young, I’ve always knew I wanted kids with my future husband. I had it all planned out: married by 21, enjoy being a married couple for 5 years and then have 1-2 kids and be done by the time I was 30. That was my plan… when I was 12. Seemed about right to me at that age and in the back of my mind I’ve always had that list.
Well, I wasn’t married at 21, instead I was 23. Not exactly has planned, but not far off considering I was 12 when I made that goal. My husband, James, was an on the rise Professional MMA fighter and I was excited to see what adventures the next 5 years would bring us! Continue reading

I would assume that if a poll went out to churches, the large majority of participants would confirm that they are “denying themselves”. However, self-deception is a very real thing. I think a little self-reflection is a good habit we should all develop. Continue reading
Since the beginning of time, there have been immediate objections to the true faith. We all know how the story of the Garden of Eden unfolded, with Satan’s open and direction opposition to God’s word. However, not all of the enemy’s tactics are the same. We are warned in Matthew 7: 15 that “”Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (NASB). This warning isn’t talking about when snakes come and openly oppose the truth of God, as identifiable as that may be. Rather, these false teachers have the appearance of truth. This is what makes the overwhelming population explosion of false teaching in the world so dangerous: It appears to be genuine truth. Continue reading
